check out this PRIZE! who's gonna win? I'm so EXCITED!

HEY YOU GUYS!!!

It is time for me to do MY book giveaway! I’ll bet you were all thinking that I was never going to  give away a copy of the book I wrote – HA! I fooled you! Not only are we giving away a copy of The Edible Front Yard, my lovely publisher, Timber Press, has generously added a copy of the Sugarsnaps and Strawberries (written by the amazing Andrea Bellamy of Heavy Petal) to the mix! And that isn’t ALL! The fabulous folks at GrowOrganic.com, the online home of Peaceful Valley Farm & Garden Supply, have created a special custom seed collection inspired by the “Supermodels” of ornamental edibles that I list in my book! 20 packets of gorgeous, certified organic, non-GMO seeds were donated – thank you Peaceful Valley Farm & Garden Supply (find them online at GrowOrganic.com)! The coolest, sexiest, warm AND cool season Supermodels Seeds will be sashaying their way around some lucky winner’s front yard – How awesome is THAT? And then there is a special present from me – a framed cartoon that I drew with my very own hands, depicting a few of the beauties that were making their presence known in my garden this year – before I ATE THEM!

an image of my garden from The Edible Front Yard - pretty pics in this book, if I do say so myself!

So here we go! Leave your comments and in one week, we will have a winner! Go crazy with your comments – woo me! The winner will be chosen randomly, but still – woo me! I like to be flattered and purred over, and I want to know how you plan on using this treasure chest of goodies should you win!

MEOW!

XOXO Your Germinatrix

look how happy I am harvesting herbs! this could be YOU! leave a comment to win!

  1. Wow, what a temptation – finally I would have no excuse not to get the garden going. I would actually overcome the one time feeble attempt at growing lettuce.I need all the help I can get and this looks like the way to go!

  2. Great contest, Ivette! I have your book (which I love), so if I win, perhaps I’ll repurpose it and have a giveaway of my own. That being said, the best prize, for me, would be your “cartoon”. It’s lovely.
I’m enjoying a big backyard garden this year. It’s so nice to sit outside and see all the life around me.

  12. “Germinatrix”

    Tremble, relentless velvet green lawn
    Make way:

Vixen Garden Queen of tomato martinis
Has come with velvet whip in hand,

Your pedestrian sameness withers in her measured gaze

The Germinatrix demands a gravel path, or a stone carpet,
A tapestry of red and black either side

Chartreuse and burgundy, hot pink and orange, silver and gold, a painting is a garden is a procession,

Suburban monotony replaced with the taste of her plant jewels.

  13. Would so love these books…such inspiration to grow our own vegies. I’m doing ok in the back yard, but would love some inspiration for the front yard : )

  14. Yes please…pick me : ) I’m doing ok in the back yard; would love such inspiration for the front yard!

  19. love love love! My favourite books!

  20. Yes, please. Ivette, your book can be used for the back yard too, yeah? Otherwise it will be a garden exclusively for the neighborhood deer. And high schoolers.

  21. sandy weaver says:

I was so inspired by your book. I have vegtables and herbs as ornamentals front and back. I would love more seeds to play with and to have your book on my coffee table.

  23. Love to win this loot…! ♥

  24. Would probably donate the seeds to my favorite school garden (Titan Garden in Austin, TX) and devour the books all by myself. The cartoon would have a starring role in my kitchen.

  25. I’ve had an edible landscape for about 15 years–with loads of fruit trees and herbs. Sadly, I’ve let it go for the past couple of years–I haven’t even planted my vegetable garden (and I really miss that). Perhaps winning this prize would push me over the cliff and get me back out there… I hope I win!

  26. What a great giveaway! I hope I win!

  27. Count me in!

  28. Win-Win…!!!

  29. Love your comments, I laugh out loud each time I read your blog. But you make me think too – I will never view a front lawn the same way again!

I am ready to create the front yard equivalent to my backyard vegetable bonanza – can’t wait!

  30. I would love to win your book (and the other things look great, too). Half of my growing space is a raised bed in my front yard. Right now its growing cukes, melons, cherry tomatoes, pole beans, as well as herbs and flowers.

  31. My wonderful gardening fool of an uncle passed this on. He’s been helping me with all sorts of gardening questions. I hope to win so I can start on my edible yard…yummo! Thanks for having this contest.

  32. An edible yard…what an amazing idea. Hope to try to expand my garden next year this would be great. Thanks for having this contest, what a yummy idea.

  33. my front yard is begging to be an edible garden. just got rid of the lawn, got plenty of sun now i just need some plants, hint, hint.

  34. I’d love to be included in the drawing! I checked out your book from the library and knew I was going to have to get a permanent copy.

  35. Nancy Pierce says:

Truly inspiring. If every single person could dedicate even just a small space to edibles, community food banks would be filled, we would all eat healthier and that ever elusive connection to mother nature all humans crave would be maintained and nourished. Thank you for helping to spread the word. We all need to continue to do our part – you have simply made it much easier and much, much more attainable. Thank you!!!

  36. As a new homeowner, we’re still working out the landscaping. I would love to be able to make the front of the house look fantastic and colorful and then when neighbors and friends stop by, be able to show them that it’s edible! The funny thing is that this past spring, everyone had the same flowers… nobody really stood out. I really would like to see how you’ve recommended to arrange everything and try it!

We should all be in touch with our food sources. So happy to see your new publcation, Ivette, I would have the best time with your book and the seed collection:-) Hoping for a Lucky Day!

  39. Terra Hues says:

I want this so badly…to be able to grow my own food and I do have a bare, dirt, weed place right in my front yard that I could grow it in! Of course, I have to improve the clay soil first, but I am willing. I think it can happen…Looking forward to learning more
